Herstory of The Ferry Godmother
Aquanetta “FerryGodmother” Wright is the founder and CEO of Ferry Godmother Productions, an NYS MWBE certified company in event productions, marketing, advertising, audio and video production. Aquanetta is a community advocate, master connector, event producer and consultant, motivational speaker, business and personal coach.
As a Newburgh based business, she partners with local governments, companies and non-profit organizations to develop sustainable destination sites that will be of economic benefit to the communities around the Hudson Valley. She has become an icon in event management, art project development, and training programs for want-to-be and start-up women entrepreneurs and all denominational leaders who want to grow their congregation and membership.
The Ferry Godmother is known as the winged persona who is the creator of the well-known “Newburgh Jazz Series” and Orange County Pop, Rock & Doowop Series, Newburgh Jewish Music Series, African American Heritage Music Trail and more.
The Ferry Godmother projects support the transformation of poor, minority and disadvantaged communities by having local artists share the stage line-up with Grammy winners and celebrities like renowned Richard Pryor Jr., Wynton Marsalis’ band “Ali Jackson”, West Point Jazz Knights, 7x Grammy nominee Bobby Sanabria and others.
A Harlem USA transplant Aquanetta became very politically active in the City of Newburgh New York, serving as one of the original Master Plan Key Stakeholders, Chairperson of the Board of Ethics, City Charter Revision Commissioner and a number of other positions. With deep community activism roots, she has been directly responsible for a number of elected officials at every level.
