How Small Female-Owned Businesses Attract Customers

Starting a business can be a difficult task. From deciding on a product or service, debating if there are enough resources to start one, and determining marketability.  With the cosmetics industry being so full, one good product is enough to put a business’ name out there, more specifically a small female-owned business.

Most people would prefer to buy from bigger reputable brands, but by supporting small businesses, people can strengthen their reputation as well as possibly finding a new brand to love.

References to Animation

Popular on TikTok, @fresabeauty, or Sandy is known for her “manhua lashes”. The word manhua is the Mandarin meaning of comic in English. Similar to manga which also means comic in Japanese. The manhua lashes are supposed to give the effect of an animated character. This became her best seller after it went viral on TikTok for their sustainability and unique look.

Along with this product, Fresa Beauty also ensures the packaging is effective and attractive. Sometimes, customers will be attracted by a product’s exterior in order to really sell it. Her products are encased in pink tones with either an animated character, hearts, or strawberries. Strawberries are a consistent theme in Fresa Beauty’s business, from the packaging to the “fresa” translating directly to strawberry.

Packaging seems to be a consistent theme in cosmetics. From the efficiency of keeping the product unscathed to something appealing to customers. Most cosmetic businesses change their design often to suit the product and how it may get damaged when shipping.

Quality of the Product

Another small female business owner on TikTok popular for their unique packaging and design is @yvaexpressions, or Yva. The packaging of her products showcase characters drawn in an anime style, including characters of different skin tones and genders.

Aside from her engaging graphics, that isn’t the only thing Yva Expressions has to offer. Ranging from eyeshadow to lip glosses, all of the makeup produced is of high pigmented quality. Recently, her Magical Guardian’s Glimmer Duochrome Palette went viral on TikTok and sold out within 2 days. One video showcasing how quickly the product transferred onto her skin became the rage for makeup enthusiasts. Yva Expressions also discussed the smoothness of the product in her video, something most eyeshadows tend to lack.

TikTok has become the perfect platform to support small business owners. Yva Expressions and Fresa Beauty both use this to expand their brand. Typically, when people see bright wrapping they’re more geared to buying it. With their audiences being people who are fond of the aesthetics of makeup, both of these businesses have successfully created an audience for their brand.
